How to Create a Simple ‘Buy Now’ Button with PayPal

10 April 2010

Transaction through PayPal is very common for online shopping these days. PayPal can be used to sell both digital and non-digital products. If you do not use a WordPress Shopping Cart on your site, you might want to know how you can easily create a simple ‘Buy Now‘ button with PayPal and put on your product page or post to sell products.

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create a simple ‘Buy Now’ button with PayPal. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can sign up for one here. If you already have a PayPal account, all you need to do is just log in to your account and follow the tutorial.

Note: You need to have a  PayPal  ‘Premier‘ or ‘Business‘ account to be able to create ‘Buy Now‘ buttons. If your account type is ‘Personal‘, you can upgrade it to ‘Premier‘ or ‘Business‘ for free to be able to buy and sell online.

This is a very basic tutorial to create a simple ‘Buy Now‘ button. I did not customize the ‘Buy Now‘ button or the settings but you can play around with it on your own. Alternatively, if you are using WordPress then you can use a Free WordPress Shopping Cart plugin which will automatically create a simple PayPal button for you. The Free WordPress Shopping Cart can be found here.

I want to sell mp3 from my website. After watching your nice tutorial I think now I’ll be able to create a “Buy Now” button for my mp3.

But I’ve a question, Is there any other way to send mp3 file to my customers without letting them know the location of my mp3 file?

    Thanks

    Hi Michael,

Using a plain Paypal “Buy Now” button is good when you have less customer. But when you have more customer I think It is very difficult to manage them by sending mp3 file manually.
That’s why It’s good to use a shopping cart plugin which will automatically handle your sales and send mp3 files to your customers. You might try WP eStore plugin. After any customer makes a payment, this plugin creates an encrypted link of the product (e.g- mp3) and send that download link to your customer. So your customer can’t know the true location of the file.

I have a post on how to sell mp3 from a wordpress blog using WP eStore plugin. You can find it here-
